Latin Literature

Course Objective

Students read selections from Latin authors, Caesar, Cicero, Augustus, Pliny, Trajan and Eutropius. Through the words of these Romans, students increase their knowledge of the late Roman Republic and early Roman Empire. Grammatical concepts and Latin vocabulary are reinforced in the context of these works. Upon completion of this segment, students read from Catullus and Horace to prepare them for the Advanced Placement Latin Literature exam. Latin Literature students will:
  • Receive an agenda for the academic year
  • Access daily lessons via the Internet
  • Access oral readings of poems from the Internet
  • Access glossed Latin works from the Internet
  • Contact the KET teacher on assigned days via a toll free number
  • Complete Internet quizzes and tests according to the schedule
  • Complete all assignments according to schedule
  • Download ancillary materials from the Internet
  • Increase their knowledge and skills on the Internet
  • Participate in online cooperative learning on the Internet
